Adding an authorized pickup or return person
This article explains planned BorrowHive product behavior. It is not legal or tax advice, and it is not a safety guarantee.
BorrowHive does not allow delegated pickup or return unless the delegated person has completed the required identity verification flow for that rental. This protects owners, renters, and support staff when someone other than the primary renter handles a tool.
Planned Flow
- The primary renter nominates a pickup or return person with name, phone, and email.
- BorrowHive sends the delegated person a verification link.
- The delegated person completes Stripe Identity verification with a government ID and selfie/liveness check.
- BorrowHive records whether the primary renter or verified delegate handled pickup or return in the digital handoff checklist.
- If verification is not completed by the rental deadline, BorrowHive can decline the delegated pickup or return person for that rental.
Owners should see only safe confirmation details, such as approval state and a display-safe name. BorrowHive should not expose document images, selfies, full document numbers, exact address details, or provider scoring.
Delegated-person verification is separate from asset-label location checks and inventory labels. Verified-person status is not a background check, not a credit check, not a guarantee of safe behavior, and not a BorrowHive endorsement.
Do not send ID photos, selfies, or full document numbers through normal support forms. If the delegated person cannot complete Stripe Identity verification, contact support without attaching sensitive identity images.
