Guide to becoming a verified person on BorrowHive
This article explains BorrowHive product behavior. It is not legal or tax advice, and it is not a safety guarantee.
BorrowHive requires verified-person status before members can rent or lend tools. This check helps confirm that a real person matches a government ID before a rental creates pickup, return, deposit, payout, or dispute risk.
Stripe Identity is BorrowHive's launch provider for identity verification. The verification page may show Stripe consent, camera, document, and selfie screens before returning you to BorrowHive.
What you will do
- Open the verification prompt from BorrowHive.
- Review and accept the Stripe Identity consent screen if you want to continue.
- Capture or upload a supported government ID, such as a driver license, state or national ID card, or passport where supported.
- Complete the selfie or liveness step so Stripe can compare your face to the ID photo.
- Return to BorrowHive and wait for the status to update.
Most sessions finish quickly, but some need extra processing or manual support review. BorrowHive may show pending, action required, rejected, expired, or manual review until the issue is resolved.
What BorrowHive Stores
BorrowHive stores verification status, provider session references, timestamps, safe failure categories, and audit events. Raw ID images, selfies, full document numbers, biometric templates, and expanded provider outputs should stay with Stripe Identity unless a reviewed exception is approved.
Do not send ID photos, selfies, or full document numbers through normal support forms, email, chat, or messages. Support may ask you to restart the Stripe Identity flow or may route a case through a reviewed manual process.
For help, contact support from the BorrowHive app or email support@borrowhive.com without attaching sensitive identity images. BorrowHive privacy and terms pages explain how payment, payout, and identity-verification providers fit into the product.
What Verification Does Not Mean
Verified-person status is not a background check, not a credit check, not an address guarantee, not a guarantee of safe behavior, and not a BorrowHive endorsement. It is also separate from asset-label mailer verification, address checks, payout onboarding, and verified inventory signals.
If a handoff problem needs support review, BorrowHive may ask you to bring the same ID to pickup or return so the issue can be resolved without exposing unnecessary identity details in the app.
