Why paid checkout is not available in some locations
This article explains BorrowHive product behavior. It is not legal or tax advice.
BorrowHive blocks paid checkout when the rental location is not yet supported by the tax policy engine. A blocked location does not mean the rental is impossible forever. It means BorrowHive has not yet implemented the required marketplace, rental, local, filing, and reporting controls for that location.
Common reasons include:
- BorrowHive has not enabled marketplace collection in that state.
- The city is a self-collecting home-rule jurisdiction that needs city-specific review.
- The possession or delivery address is missing or cannot be sourced.
- The cart spans multiple possession locations that need split checkout.
- Owner self-collection has not been approved for that jurisdiction.
Owners may still draft listings while BorrowHive reviews tax coverage. Do not move a pickup or delivery location to avoid a tax block.
