How Free First bookings work
Free First lets eligible members borrow through BorrowHive for $0. The confirmation screen shows when a booking qualifies for Free First before it is accepted.
This information is general and is not legal or tax advice.
For a confirmed Free First booking:
- the borrower is not charged a rental price or sales tax,
- we do not place a rental deposit hold,
- the owner does not receive a rental payout, and
- the usual pickup, return, care, and safety responsibilities still apply.
An owner may still see price or deposit settings on a listing. Those settings do not change a booking that the app confirms as Free First. If a future request includes charges, you'll see them before you confirm.
